Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F) and grease four 15cm diameter round ramekin dishes with butter.
Wash the strawberries, then remove their tops and slice them in half. Wash and peel the apples, then dice them into cubes of approximately 1.5 cm (0.6 inches).
Add the chopped strawberries, apples, lemon zest, lemon juice, cornflour, and sugar to a large bowl. Use a large wooden spoon or your hands to mix the ingredients together. Set aside.
Add the flour, almond meal, cold butter, brown sugar, and salt to a large mixing bowl. Use the tips of your fingers to massage the ingredients together until a crumble forms.
Spoon the fruit mixture evenly between the prepared ramekins and then sprinkle the crumble over the top of the strawberry-apple filling.
Bake the desserts in a preheated oven for about 30 minutes or until the crumble is a light golden brown. Serve warm with custard or a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Enjoy!
Notes
Fresh or frozen strawberries will work for this recipe.
Don't overbake this dessert otherwise the fruit will become mushy.
