Key Ingredients

- Cream crackers - This recipe uses plain savory biscuits as the base of the truffles. These biscuits are unflavoured. Try to find something similar.
- Coffee granules - Use instant coffee granules to make these truffles or espresso powder. I used Nescafé Gold. This is optional but adds depth to the chocolate flavour of the truffles.
See the recipe card for full information on ingredients and quantities.
Variations
You can get creative with what you choose to coat your condensed milk truffles in. Instead of coconut, you can use chocolate sprinkles, powdered sugar, or cocoa powder. If you don't like coconut, you can omit this ingredient entirely.

How to Make Chocolate Condensed Milk Truffles
- Step 1: Place the cream crackers into a food processor and pulse until crushed. Do not pulse until super fine; you want the biscuits to have some texture.
- Step 2: In a large mixing bowl, add the crushed biscuits, condensed milk, cocoa powder, vanilla, melted butter, coffee, and 2 tablespoon of desiccated coconut. Use a rubber spatula to mix all the ingredients together. Make sure the truffle mixture is well combined.

- Step 3: Cover the mixing bowl filled with the chocolate mixture in plastic wrap and refrigerate the truffle mixture for about an hour until firm and easy to roll.

- Step 4: Use a cookie scoop or spoon to portion the truffle mixture into balls of about 20 grams each and then roll them using the palms of your hands into smooth balls. Place the rolled truffles onto a tray. Add the remaining coconut to a bowl, and roll each truffle in the desiccated coconut until well coated. Serve and enjoy!

Storage
Store these easy chocolate truffles in an air-tight container at room temperature out of direct sunlight for about 7 days.
Expert tips
- Don't over-pulse the biscuits; they should resemble breadcrumbs for the best texture.
- Allow the mixture to chill completely before rolling them; otherwise, you will struggle, and your hands will get very messy!
- Only roll the truffles in the coconut once all of them have been shaped; this way, you will work quickly and cleanly!
Condensed Milk Chocolate Truffles FAQs
This recipe can technically work with lots of different types of biscuits; the taste will just change! Since this recipe uses sweet condensed milk, it is best to choose a plain biscuit that isn't sweetened or flavoured. Plain digestive biscuits or marie biscuits will also work.
You haven't chilled the chocolate truffle mixture for long enough; it chills and firms in the fridge, so make sure it has had enough time there.
These truffles can be made ahead and frozen. Do this by placing the truffles in a freezer-safe container or bag. They can be frozen for up to three months. Defrost the truffles in the fridge overnight before bringing them to room temperature and serving.

Thanks Kitty! I loved this and it worked well using vegan oat based condensed milk. Perfect truffles to decorate my son’s birthday cake. A little soft with the vegan option but a bit more biscuit and cocoa helped to firm up. Will absolutely make again, my daughter has already requested it for her birthday.

In Russia it has name "Potatos", very popular there.
Only instant coffe is not used.
Russians stick nuts on the desert balls for it looks like sprouted potato.
